Fjell does not collect, store or transmit any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

What stays on your phone

Everything the app knows about you lives on your device and nowhere else:

• Location. Your GPS position is used to work out where a walk starts and to place labels in the Look view. It is never sent anywhere and never written to a server.
• Camera. The Look view shows the live camera image on screen so names can be drawn over the landscape. The video is not recorded, stored or sent anywhere. Photos you choose to take are saved only where you save them.
• Compass and motion. Used to line labels up with what you are pointing at.
• Your walks and settings. Kept in the app's own storage on the device. Deleting the app deletes them.

What the app requests from the internet

To draw maps and work out routes, Fjell downloads map tiles and elevation data from these providers. They receive the ordinary web request needed to serve a map tile, which includes your IP address, as any website does. No account information, identifier or personal data is attached.

• OpenFreeMap — map tiles, from OpenStreetMap data
• AWS Terrain Tiles — elevation data, from NASA SRTM and other public sources
• Photon — place name search, only when you type in the search box

Areas you save for offline use are downloaded once and then read from your device, so with no signal the app makes no network requests at all.

Children

Fjell collects nothing from anyone, including children.

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
